Small Addition

At Crisp Architects, our primary focus has been the creation of buildings that fit their site, historic context, and client needs. When designing an addition for an old home, it is important to us that we make the addition feel as though it had been part of an early evolution of the property. When our clients came to us with the desire to put a dining room addition on their 200 year old home, we knew we wanted to make the addition "fit" and blend with the rest of the house seamlessly. The constraints were pretty tight in that the addition needed to stay a few feet off the driveway, between an existing kitchen window and the end of the house, as well as below a second floor bedroom window. The outcome accomplishes this as the design of the roof and windows blend perfectly with the existing structure.
