An amzing project which we had the pleasure of travelling to Verbier, Switzerland to install. We were commissioned to design and build a Mazot - essentially a Swiss outhouse for a client that was looking to add a romantic new sleeping quarter to his chalet. Made almost entirely of French oak, the Mazot was built in Oxford then broken back down into smaller parts for transportation abroad. Reinterpretated as luxury accomodation the 10m2 space included a small toilet, kitchenette, a beautiful wood burning stove, space for a kingsize bed and a heated leather floor!

See our website for more information on this project.

Internally 5 solid oak benches were designed to act as both a base for the bed and seating. wheeled boxes underneath made from reclaimed Victorian reeded cladding provided the neccessary storage. In the foreground are the bronze taps we bought from an arhcitectural ironmonger: they'd sat unused in a plumbers merchant for the best part of fifty years.

Even the roof trusses were made from oak. And they had to be strong - enough to support 600kg / m2 of snow loading.
