Peterson/Starbird
by Margie Miller, Architect
This 1993 house, by architect Paul Wallwork, is still lived in by the original owner, but a new spouse brought fresh needs and ideas. The goals were to make a welcoming entry from the street, improve the interior entry sequence and stair, update the great room and kitchen, and rework the downstairs to yield a home office and improved guest bedroom. A landscape plan was also within the scope of work, with hopes that the site and building work as one.

Reorganize existing kitchen, create 42" high dining/serving bar to welcome, screen, and manage circulation. All existing cabinets remain; some get re-used, relocated; new countertops. Margie Miller

Before Kitchen, confusing boundary for work/guest space; kitchen clutter too visible for existing handsome arch'l space - which deserves better! Margie Miller
Peterson/Starbird
Poor, unwelcoming landscape, entry experience. Entry door faces side, very insignificant for a house with such presence. Margie Miller
Peterson/Starbird
Insignificant, hard to see, unwelcoming entry doesn't match the great architectural presence of this house. Tough to get people up the stairs, let alone in front door. Must lure them! Margie Miller
