Rejuvenating Shower Remodel

Every morning this client woke up in a truly beautiful home with a gracious master suite, walked into a well appointed master bathroom….and then she got to choose between showering in the dark, moldy cave of a shower, or bathing in the tub she feared would fall through the floor.

The shower pan had leaked in the past, been repaired, and now leaked again, so the grout on the shower floor was loose, moldy, and impossible to clean. A dim fan light, narrow glass door, and dark tile all added up to a dismal shower despite the gracious size of the space. The acrylic drop-in tub had never been properly installed, so it slid freely on the tile deck.

We took this opportunity to design a shower worthy of the house. We opened up the top half of the shower walls and installed a heavy glass shower surround with a slightly wider door. The shower not only felt larger and was full of light, but the whole bathroom felt larger because the shower was now part of the bathroom.

The shower features Florida Tile, four body sprays, a rain hat, a personal shower, a steam generator with aroma therapy, and a Teak bench to sit and take it all in.

We fixed the tub too, but we don’t think it gets much use.
