In the basement: a gut renovation gives a small home (500 sq ft foot print) an extra room for three small children, a full bathroom and a laundry room. The handrail and newel post are original to the house. A taupe porcelain tile was used throughout.

This is a long view of the kitchen from the hallway. Note the glass door to the backyard- this door was replaced with a double hung window. The counter top was extended to create a u-shape, and the sink was centered on the window. The vaulted ceiling was removed to allow more height for upper cabinets. The range and dishwasher remained close to the original location, the sink was relocated to the exterior wall. The microwave hood was replaced with a stainless steel hood. The green tiles and black appliances make this small kitchen feel heavy.
