Through the golden sky of autumn, there are entrances made by contrasting the free form wedges with the very tight straight line piecing. Quilt made by the artist of commercially available cotton fabrics using a method she calls quilt as you go. 45 x 45" Orders taken. Photo by John Polak
Consider the feeling of space and light that a quilt with a strong horizon line can give. Wonderful colors and just the glimpse of a story. This quilt I call mountain lake. I loved the calm colors of the green and the rich blue of the lake accented by a brief story. This quilt was actually an order for a home in the Blue Ridge mountains but of course I could make one similar to it. 45 x 56" $1800 John Polak
Who knows the tale this quilt is telling? I love the simple but complex colors and the one dark line. I call it "into the mist". It is 45 x 45". John Polak
At the edge of the prairie, the distant mountain beckon with a promise of the future. I love the contrast between the free form wedges that pain the soft colors and the lavender which is pieced using thin straight lines. 45x45" Photo by John Polak
As dawn breaks, the red sun reflects its light against the sky and earth. I love the contrast between the free expanse of the sky and the tighter piecing of the sun. Also note the many fabrics used in the quilt that reference the sky. All cotton fabric machine pieced and quilted using a method I call quilt as you go. Custom orders welcome. Photo by John Polak.
Sometimes dawn breaks slowly and gently across the sky with colors reflecting against the horizon. A simple color study that is also complex and soothing. All cotton machine pieced and quilted by the artist. 45 x 45" Photo by John Polak.
Each dawn has its own color and feel but together the sum is woven into the overall concept that we think of as dawn. This quilt is a quilt that refers to the fact that we think of traditional work being pieced in blocks. This makes the quilt both contemporary and traditional at the same time. 45 x 45" Photography by John Polak. Custom orders welcome.
