Transitional New Mexico Territorial house
by Lynne Barton Bier - Home on the Range Interiors
The strawbale and reclaimed lumber construction along with geothermal heating make this New Mexico Territorial style home environmentally friendly. Engineered wood floors on the upper level and natural saltillo floors on the main level provide a high level of efficiency to the in-floor heating. Plaster walls work beautifully with the New Mexico Territorial style.

The saltillo floors and creamy plaster walls blend beautifully with the reclaimed timber beams. White painted woodwork lightens up the space and the whole provides the perfect backdrop for the owner's collection of contemporary art.

The straw-bale construction of this section of the New Mexico Territorial house creates deep windows and lends itself to the deep copper penny color we used on the walls. An antique iron chandelier hangs from the ceiling and the owner's collection of art and unique dolls and artifacts add a touch of whimsy.
