These photos are from a kitchen we built in a "barn". The barn is huge and has a wing consisting of 3 bedrooms, 3 baths, a kitchen, and family room. Our scope of work included the kitchen, 2 bath vanities, and 3 closets. The wood is re-claimed white oak with a limed wax finish.
Island - The island consist of a farm sink, dishwasher, and trash pull-out. The tops are limestone and there is an overhang for dining and hanging out on the opposite side.
Overview - This view shows the kitchen from the family room. The wall cabinets have black glass in the upper section. We built a custom soffit to blend with the cabinetry and carry the look to the 10' ceiling. Kitchen appliances include a Kitchen-Aid ice-maker, Sharp Microwave drawer, Wolf gas...
Closet - The closet were built from the same re-claimed oak but finished with a traditional stain and lacquer. The master closet was not photographed but this secondary bedroom closet consist of a chest-of-drawers, chrome hanging rods, and adjustable shelving.
Design - The doors are inset Shaker style. Using reclaimed, non-kiln dried lumber is not the best way to ensure tight tolerances but the twists and knots created the character the owner was seeking.
Liming Wax Finish - Liming wax is applied to the raw wood and allowed to dry. Lime sticks in the grain and imperfections in the wood. After wiping away the excess and allowing to dry overnight a paste wax is applied to seal in the liming.
