These are two twin Murphy beds done with raised panel (roman) doors in Wild Apple. Between the two wall beds is a 15" wide unit to give a lilltle space to get in and out of the murphy beds when they are opened. to the right under the window is a storage cabinet with two overly generous drawers below. This Murphy wal bed was installed in Arva, Ontario a week ago.
Now the basement converts into a guest bedroom with the 2 murphy wall beds opened. A couple of pictures on the walls behind the bed will be a nice added touch.
The murphy wall beds are closed. The right side cabinet now shows it's storage potential. The right cabinet is actually about 4 inched deeper than the beds. The wall had an indention (under the window) so we brought the beds to the very edge of it and them increased the size to the right. Now the entire unit is a uniform depth,
This is the CAD murphy bed plan before we made the unit. We sat down with the customer and designed the murphy bed system to make use of the space they had. The mock up is missing a little detail but clearly gets the point across.
This is a queen horizontal panel bed or wall bed. IT uses 4 faux doors to look like a large cabinet. The colour choice here is mocha, a very warm brown colour. The colour is darker than the floors so it does not look like we were trying to match the floors. This murphy bed would have looked equally nice in a lighter colour to match the arms of the couch.
Our murphy bed systems allow the wall to show through when opened. By not putting a solid back on it we make it appear to be less intrusive. People usually hang some pictures on the back wall. This unit utilized our customers existing queen mattress, saving them hundreds of dollars. All of our murphy bed systems can accommodate a mattress up to 12" thick.
