Building in the other appliances into the cabinets creates visual space. I had wanted to add a small flat screen TV and designed with that need in mind. The TV blends in with the look of the wall and can be turned to be seen from the work area or either of the dining spaces.

My kitchen remodel needed a similar footprint from the prior one, but one of the big differences is the addition of the leaded glass doors on the cabinets over the peninsula eating bar. This is part of the work area in the kitchen. There is a Tuscan feel to the room, but just slightly. Varying textures is the key to using neutral color schemes. This is a great example with the smooth finish on the cabinets, shiny on the sink and faucet, nubby on the valance, natural stone finish on the backsplash and textures on the accessories.

The dining area of the kitchen was a bit small. The ceiling was opened up to create a tray effect and add some architectural interest. I love using textured wallcoverings and this texture really warms up the space.
