McIntire House

This 1,800 square-foot, Ipswich home had been passed down through four generations when we were asked to design an addition as well as exterior and interior renovations. With a sensitivity to finding a solution that complemented the structure’s original silhouette, we designed an L-shaped wing with a porch that opens onto the yard. We replaced the vinyl siding with a tasteful shingle pattern that adds texture and charm. Inside, we added pine flooring and a small summer staircase as well as a custom, red birch kitchen that flows into the new, timber-frame, sunken mudroom and family room. This house is a perfect example of just how beautiful small can be, especially when the home is one that has been lovingly passed down through the family and is now preserved for future generations.
