Liberty Lake Residence
by Masterson Studio
The passive-solar design for this new house in Liberty Lake takes advantage of the site’s southern orientation for both heating in the winter and cooling in the summer. The design makes extensive use of sustainable and durable materials to reduce the impact of both construction and living while maintaining a high standard of comfort and quality

Both the glass tile tub surround and the Ceasarestone countertops are made from recycled materials and lend an elegant and contemporary feel to the master bath.

The house was oriented and positioned on the site to take advantage of passive solar strategies. The durable exterior materials convey a substantial, contemporary presence while reducing the need for maintenance and repairs.

The durable materials chosen for this project will prevent the need for costly and energy consuming repairs for many years to come. Durability is one of the most effective sustainable strategies that can be employed in any building project because it conserves the embodied energy from the construction process.

The building has been nestled into the site to maximize exposure from the south and minimize exposure from the north. Drought tolerant plantings were chosen throughout the project. The concrete block planters are watered with storm-water collected from the upper patio.
