Projects
Country Estate I
by Bruce Palmer Interior Design
This property is located in the country side of Pennsylvania and built as a new construction home for a family of four. The concept of the project was to incorporate period details of colonial style and mix them with modern conveniences.
Meticulous detail was incorporated into every room, including extensive millwork, floor to ceiling casework, and salient custom furnishings. Throughout the estate, antiques were scattered to complete an overall transitional look and to give the feel that it has been lived in for many years. Pennsylvania blue stone was hand cut and stacked to create a warm ambient gathering place in the family room along with a coffered ceiling.
The estate is equipped with a full gym, theater room with padded walls, wine cellar, billiards room, game room, and a screened veranda. The veranda is equipped with motorized fans with pulley belts that drive the motors. Hand forged wrought iron gates lead to a conservatory filled with orchids, palm trees and ferns. A baby grand piano is also located in this special space. The spiral staircase is a unique detail that was inspired by local historical residences. Inside the wine cellar you will find doors from New Mexico and terracotta wine blocks for storage. The master bathroom was completed with both his and her shower controls with an additional steam shower all outfitted in limestone. The cabinetry there was made from ebony stained walnut.
Additional features of the estate include a dance studio for the daughter, separate pool house, changing room, and a separate kitchen just for catering events. The oversized kitchen is complete with wood countertops and cabinetry that disguise appliances. There is even a built in coffee maker with a hand forged iron lighting fixture above. Two recreation rooms complete with pool table, foosball, air hockey, bumper pool, putting green, and shuffle board. Definitely a home for entertaining!
