Kathy's garden
by Liquidscapes
This project was a wonderful experience, because we had the opportunity to work with two clients that truly valued our process. They were both very detailed and quality minded and oriented, and speaking from years of experience, when you find that mutual chemistry nothing is better.
This project started from a raw canvas and a completely 1.5 acre wooded lot. The intent and goal was to incorporate a site and master plan saving as many of the existing mature trees as possible and maximizing the lots linear form. The home was traditional and formal in nature, as was the detached pool house and clients. The goal was to create a series of out door rooms and garden spaces that could be viewed and enjoyed from any aspect of the property, home and pool space. Connected in relationship and use, so everyone could experience the property and home in a cohesive manner. Some spaces where very symmetrical and formal in design and others more relaxed and naturalized.
There are so many details to list with this project, the images will hopefully convey the overall scope, goals and result.

"Love-seat", which was created with Boxwoods. The stone sitting space is contained and concealed by the boxwood surround.

A beautiful raised water feature as a focal point from the rear porch looking out onto the lawn garden, with a large arbor in the back ground. This is one of many outdoor garden spaces and rooms we created for our clients.

Small boxwood garden with bird bath inside the pool area.

Garden urn in the center of the parking motor court and island, with boxwood hedge surround. This application was meant as a focal point coming down the drive and to help break up the hardscapes of the parking court. The entire cobble stone court has a garden surround to warm the space and create wonderful interest.

Side bluestone entry off the motor court and to the rear yard. Solid fencing to separate the vehicular spaces from the garden spaces, which is also enhanced and supported by beautiful garden plantings.

Distant view through one of the formal gardens, which is hidden in this frame by a Laurel hedge of the pool house and pergola.

Close up of the pool house, outdoor porch and fireplace, spa, pool and gardens of this lovely home. The spa is elevated to also act as additional seating along the coping facing the pool house and to create drama and falling water into the pool. We utilized the same exterior stone to mimic and blend with the architecture.

Secluded corner of the pool environment looking back at the home and surrounding garden spaces. This site and project has a number of wonderful garden experiences and rooms.

A serpentine bluestone path from the driveway and entering the rear yard and garden. Plantings with different heights, textures and colors create a wonderful experience and feel as you enter the property.

A view of one garden space leading to another to draw you in, so you can experience the property and grounds from many points of the property.

A cut bluestone path with Mazas leads you to another grass terrace and formal garden space, with an urn planted with annuals as a focal point.

Beautiful stone entry piers flank the driveway of this home. The stone matches the exposed stone foundation of the home for continuity. We chose the cobble stone apron, curbing and pea gravel drive to mimic the tones of the stone piers. The surrounding landscape finishes off the space and experience.

Beautiful bulbs are on display with this garden and front cobblestone motor court.

I love this picture I took of all the contrasting colors and textures during the fall season around the pool fencing.

Free standing arbor, which was a focal point of this garden, along with a structure that provided shade, a place to rest and enjoy the garden and separated one room/garden space from another.

Lovely hanging flower baskets within this open porch.
