Buteo Ridge home

Passive solar green home
The main entry of this home is framed by two existing oaks and welcomes visitors on the Northwest corner of the footprint which es elongated on an east-west axis. As you step inside there is a receiving place that gradually opens into the bright sunny side of the house. Columns and beams have been milled from white oak from the site and directs your view to the outdoors.

The main gathering places are open and connect visually to one another. The formal separated dining room was replaced by an every day light filled space where all meals take place. The kitchen is well thought out and is open to the eating and living spaces. The main bedroom suite is located on the East on the main floor to provide easy access. Two bedrooms and a bathroom are located on the second floor.

The dramatic solar facade on the South side of the house provides long views from the main living spaces to the more private back yard. In addition a screen porch off the west side of the kitchen offers an expanding view of the woods without the summer heat. And the deck half way down to the back yard provides a gathering space to enjoy sunrises and sunsets
