Russian Folk Style Hand-Carved Vanity Base from Heirloom Russian Forest

Russian folk style vanity base, constructed of white oak harvested in the time of the last Czar and warehoused in St. Petersburg until the early 1990’s. Traditional pinned mortice and tenon joinery is used throughout the whole piece. Double raised panels at the side, “tombstone” raised panel doors surrounded by folk carving patterns on the face with and fielded frieze and coved, square feet. The interior floor is planked, tongue and groove, and the back is ship lapped paneling. The top molding and tall back splash are set to accommodate 1” thick or thicker marble, granite or man-made stone and sink. The exterior is lightly distressed, stained, glazed and finished with low VOC stains and acrylic lacquer. A top coat of dark wax beds the finish and minimal hardware. The interior is finished with two coats of a 50/50 mix of boiled linseed oil and low VOC mineral spirits. Overall foot print: 48 ½ “wide X 25 ¼ “deep; overall work height: 36”; height at the back-splash: 44”.
