2012 BIA Parade of Homes Columbus

This award winning Parade Home was designed for a family that loves to vacation near the ocean and experience aquatic adventures together. Accented throughout the home, are relics from past diving excursions, antique diving gear and ocean and water inspired art and decor. They also love to entertain, with a definite interest in the fruits of the vine, as noted by the stunning custom-built wine storage and bookshelves surrounding the stone fireplace in the great room. My goal was to design a family-friendly home with easy care fabrics, warm and inviting tones of gray with touches of ocean inspired blue/gray and pops of Tangerine Tango - the 2012 Pantone color of the year.

The design for the girl’s bedroom was inspired by artist Camille Grimshaw's paintings of beautiful, young, whimsical mermaids. Perfectly what I had envisioned for the room and for a little girl who, like her family, loves the water. The boy’s room features artwork of beautifully colored sea life and photos taken during snorkeling adventures. The ocean inspiration flows naturally into the Jack and Jill bathroom with a two-sided aquarium and seashell inspired flooring that brings the love of the water into the home. The study offers dual workstations accented by antique diving gear and found oceanic treasures. Custom, all wood bookshelves and storage built-ins are featured, with a cowhide rug providing a touch of whimsy.

Attention to small, personal details within a contemporary, stylish, family-inspired design, helps tell the story of this wonderful home and the family that lives there. I enjoyed designing a contemporary, sophisticated home with touches of the unexpected that bring the home to life.
