Two Home Additions - Addition & Renovation

This project provides major expansions to this stately home on one of Bexley's premier streets. Our design solution includes two distinct additions. A one story addition on the south side of the residence expands and redesigns the existing kitchen and dinette spaces, and provides a new family room and screened porch. The new gourmet kitchen and adjacent dinette will have an intricate ceiling beam design and large openings into the new family room. An angular, two story addition on the west side includes a first floor three car garage, and mudroom and a second floor master suite. A new stair is also integrated into the two story addition. The new second floor master suite is entered through a fitness/sitting area off of the new open stair. Careful attention to the scale and massing of the two story addition and its relationship to the existing home resulted in the unique half story/attic volume for the master suite. The master suite is highlighted by a sloped ceiling design and cleverly located dormer windows. A double sided fireplace will be located between the master bedroom and master bath. The two story addition is configured on a 45 degree angle to preserve rear yard open space for family activities and by creating a new geometry for the addition, it keeps the overall massing of the completed home from visually overpowering the site.
