Surrounded By Water

The architect, Greg Wiedemann, was hired to change the location of the kitchen within the existing house and had worked on this prior to JGKB being approached to join the project. JGKB transformed a former storage area into a family gathering spot with walls of windows, gorgeous water views and plenty of workspace.

On the Eastern Shore
A colossal L-shaped island defines this kitchen as the main gathering place for families and friends. 2" thick Blue Flower granite countertops around the perimeter of the kitchen are interspersed with walnut counters. The wood top is warmer and softer on elbows as diners lean in to enjoy meals and snacks at the eat-in island. Bob Narod

Overlooking the water
Finely crafted wood trim gives an Old World charm to the entire kitchen. Crisp white beams and wide beadboard form the ceiling. Wall cabinets extend down to the countertop in both corners with sliding doors to hide small appliances and clutter. Photo by Bob Narod.

Butler's pantry on the Eastern shore
The butler's pantry offers copious countertop space and great storage. The Palladian window is flanked by mullioned windows on either side, with additional square windows at each end of the countertop. It is a great space for arranging flowers or prepping food away from the main kitchen. Bob Narod

At the eastern shore
Miele full-height 24" refrigerator and 18" freezer are concealed behind panels. Stacked double ovens with warming drawer (behind panel) below and storage above keep pots and pans organized and out of sight. Bob Narod

Surrounded by water
The secret to an uncluttered entry is providing sufficient storage space. Here, sports equipment and shoes hide behind cabinet doors. A peek at the inlet just beyond comes through the custom mullioned window that brings in natural light to the space. Bob Narod
