The island legs are not just decorative. The leg on the right is a cabinet with pull-out shelves that stores playing cards and games to be used at the family table (just behind the camera). Modern stainless leg caps are a nice contrast to the rustic paint and patina'ed hood.

The pantry is almost as large as the main kitchen and functions as a place to stage food for events. Shallow drawers in the painted cabinets with walnut butcher block countertop neatly store linens. The yellow concrete countertop is a work horse for all kinds of prep work.
