Capitol Hill Residence

The remodel of this 1907 Seattle four square residence is a blend of turn of the century architecture and detailing geared toward modern living.

The kitchen is traditional in its relationship to the rest of the house - it is located near the rear entry, mud room and stairs. It is modern in its configuration and openness to the formal dining room. State of the art appliances are flanked by shaker style stained mahogany and painted cabinets. The countertops are honed granite and walnut. The lighting consists of functional recessed cans and under cabinet lighting, combined with accents of period lighting found in the school house lights. While a palette of green and earth toned tile provide a contemporary backdrop for the space, its offset patterning recall the historic nature of the home. Other thoughtful details include a chalkboard covered refrigerator, bead board and floor to ceiling cabinets.

The master bath provides a quiet retreat with a deep soaking tub and generous shower. A bank of wood windows provides natural light while allowing for privacy. The furniture-like vanity is completed with above-counter sinks.
