McEnery Addition/Renovation Elmhurst
Surrounded by historic homes in Elmhurst, the Owners wanted to make sure their homes expansion looked like it had always been there. From the street, the addition mirrors the existing structure creating a formal central entrance, while the rear façade has a more relaxed rambling English Arts & Craft feel. Traditional detailing continues on the interior, while incorporating an open modern plan that allows natural light and views throughout the home.

The custom designed stair railing has carved panels depicting hops and barley (the home owners are in the beer business). Arts and Craft tile inserts accent the simple newel posts. Photo by Richard Carr
Stained Glass Ceiling
Concealed lights and a skylight illuminate a custom designed stained glass panel inserted into the beamed ceiling at the top of the main staircase.
The Master Bedroom's vaulted ceiling continues the beam detail found throughout the house. A built in day bed is a great spot to curl up with a good book (or Kindle). Photo by Richard Carr
