Guest bath: excellent use of materials

This bath is a newly constructed guest bath in a lovely new home. The client desired a subtle guest bath that would accommodate her parents when they visited. She indicated this was no easy task to please them as they had simple yet exquisite tastes. We also needed to work around the existing colors of the bedroom and bedding which was a soft taupe with lighter accents. She wanted a tub and shower and we created the space to allocate it separately. This required taking part of a hall closet the architect had designed but was worth the gain for the client’s needs. Her request was to have a “pretty” bath but wanted her parents to be comfortable so all decisions were made with that in mind.

We began by utilizing a beautiful soft marble on the floor to set a light and neutral palette for the rest of the design. The same marble was continued into the shower as the shower was not a focal point of the design and had no glass visible other than the arched door. We added the arch over the tub to give some additional design presence to the tub area and helped highlight the decorative tile treatment.

Our choice for the vanity was a black distressed style with a lighter crema marfil marble top. A simple overmount sink that appears to be a “vessel” style complimented the simplicity of the vanity cabinetry. Vintage lights and mirror were chosen to complete the design as well as a glass shelf and satin nickel towel bars and accessories. This bath is simple and stylish and met the needs of the homeowner without breaking the bank!
