Light-filled Kitchen remodel in a Classic Historical Residence

Ah.....an all-marble kitchen in a 1920′s house! What a delightful client who let me bring a dark-stain-colored 1970′s kitchen into the 21st century! Now it is a light-filled space that pays homage to its 20th-century roots!

12" x 12" pieces of Calcutta marble were cut into 4″ x 12″ "bricks" that make up the beautiful wall and the surround of the large window that overlooks a garden. The insert of the natural color relief shell mosaic abalone serves as an accent in the marble and lends a sparkle to the overall effect of the kitchen. Photo credit: Rod Pittam
