Alphonse Mucha Collection

A giclée canvas print is stretched and stapled exactly like an oil painting. Unlike paper prints, this canvas is framed without glass or matting so has the look of an original painting. Giclée inks are brilliant and appear heavier, more like oils. Our giclée canvas prints are copies of the original artwork and are considered museum fine art quality.

Alphonse Mucha (Czech) 1860-1939
Mucha was a major contributor of the Art Nouveau movement. His early endeavor to be a singer was halted when his voice changed as a teenager. Fortunately he was an avid illustrator since childhood and rechaneled his drive toward painting. By 1879 he was painting theatrical designs in Vienna where a Count, who commissioned him to paint murals in his castle, noticed his talent. The Count also sponsored his formal training in Munich. Mucha continued his training in Paris where he painted illustrations for magazines and advertising. His use of neoclassical clothing and abundance of flowers, along with his use of pastel colors gained him an international following of this "Mucha Style".
