Flod Whole Home Project

This Whole house renovation almost added a home onto a home in terms of square footage. Client wanted a large deck for entertaining and improved traffic flow. Improved entertaining capacity was one of the more central needs expressed by client to be able to provide a grand lake place for friends and family to gather comfortably.

Our client also wanted French country Style mixed with “Minnesota Beach” elements. The challenge came with meshing the original 1970’s architectural elements and infusing old-world French Country flavor. New distressed old world double doors with metal grilles welcome you and give you a taste for the interior.

We were also tasked with providing this lake home with a larger kitchen for entertaining. Guests came from lake into a small crowded kitchen and brought up beach sand into the home. So we developed a larger kitchen with two access points from lower level with separate stair cases. We also created a beach kitchenette at walk out level for easy access to snacks and drinks.

A mix of distressed woods with enamel cabinetry and travertine set the tone for the rustic French country style. Cabinetry had a furniture feel with antiqued painted pieces, shelving in lieu of upper cabinets, fabric treatments instead of glass, and panels on all appliances.

A wood top on the island gives the kitchen a casual rustic elegance. In the lower level a beach kitchen incorporates elements seen upstairs- travertine floors, painted cabinetry with a mix of the beach palette.
