bedside wall lamps were shiny brass and purchased at a thrift store- I actually think shiny brass has a place in this world, but for this room, I spray painted them pewter; wall sconces as opposed to bed-side lamps,cast ideal light for reading in bed; down chaise lounge by the window

tall leaning doors behind chaise are curbside finds- I added the mirrors; plantation shutters found on Craigslist; down chaise and silk and down pillows

I like a master bath with a separate toilet room, and this room has the shower, toilet and storage; we added the frosted glass window that gives a serene glow of light; simple wood casings are painted the same as the wall color.

removed the doors above built in hamper and lined the cubby interior with reclaimed pine then painted using dry-brush technique; texture and patina contrasts with the stainless shelf and lamp

Lovely and staged inspiration photos aside.....favorite things make rooms intimate instead of glossy and sterile; for me, this means antique wood bowls organizing my bobbles, photos and beach treasures found during a special vacation, and casual art that leans on a shelf for easy changing-out with next month's find or whim.

bamboo plank flooring added to ceiling and in nooks of island- same bamboo wood is the flooring of the ajacent living area just off each side of this kitchen

bamboo material that was also used on the adjacent rooms' floors was added to the kithen ceiling above the island and in the island's open shelves

this is not a different island- a skilled cabinet maker remade this to my specs (thank you, Jim!); compact and so functional on each side in and out....and painted the color of my cat's eyes.

bamboo wood vanity hides cat litter box that rests on pull-out tray-drawer. Cat entrance is on the back side in laundry room. Vanity doors are heavy, tightly fitted and left bare of pulls but they open easily with hidden finder grooves under the front edges

This functions very well and countertop is clear.
