multi-level soft contemporary
muted colors, plantation shutters, mounted bedside lamps, relaxed, cozy
bedside wall lamps were shiny brass and purchased at a thrift store- I actually think shiny brass has a place in this world, but for this room, I spray painted them pewter; wall sconces as opposed to bed-side lamps, cast ideal light for reading in bed; down chaise lounge by the window
Chaise in bedroom corner (great place to browse on Houzz)
tall leaning doors behind chaise are curbside finds- I added the mirrors; plantation shutters found on Craigslist; down chaise and silk and down pillows
pocket door, frosted window separating toilet in narrow bathroom
I like a master bath with a separate toilet room, and this room has the shower, toilet and storage; we added the frosted glass window that gives a serene glow of light; simple wood casings are painted the same as the wall color.
small counter near shower with reclaimed wood; stainless lamp and floating shelf
removed the doors above built in hamper and lined the cubby interior with reclaimed pine then painted using dry-brush technique; texture and patina contrasts with the stainless shelf and lamp
square vessel sink; wall mounted mirror; medicine cabinet; windowless bath
wide ledge on square sink; antique rustic wood countertop; mirrored medicine cabinet reflects light from parallel facing frosted window, countertop lamp; mounted lighted magnification mirror; plank ceiling
narrow bath, double sinks, antique table vanity, frosted glass, french doors
tall cabinet top
Favorite things make personal rooms intimate instead of common and sterile; for me, this means antique wood bowls organizing trinkets, photos and beach treasures from vacations, and art that leans on a shelf for easy changing-out with next month's find or whim.
paneled refridgerator, island w/ pullout garbage, wood plank ceiling
bamboo plank flooring added to ceiling and in nooks of island- same bamboo wood is the flooring of the ajacent living area just off each side of this kitchen
revamped island BACK; reading storage near seating and easy grab open cubbies
built-in paneled refridgerator, wood plank ceiling, revamped island/cabinetry
bamboo material that was also used on the adjacent rooms' floors was added to the kithen ceiling above the island and in the island's open shelves
Island Slice 'n' Dice before & after~ dramatically improved function
this is not a different island- a skilled cabinet maker remade this to my specs (thank you, Jim!); compact and so functional on each side in and out....and painted the color of my cat's eyes.
powder room with discreet cat litter box storage
bamboo wood vanity hides cat litter box that rests on pull-out tray-drawer. Cat entrance is on the back side in laundry room. Vanity doors are heavy, tightly fitted and left bare of pulls but they open easily with hidden finder grooves under the front edges
powder room's deep hues pullled from the hall's limestone striations
vanity built from bamboo plank flooring, copper sink, bronze faucet; extra items are in view and accessible to guests in open cubby. Walls painted Aubergine by Behr Premium in satin finish.
stove top storage- wide pull-out drawer holds most needed items at arms reach
This functions very well and countertop is clear.
