After a trip to Italy these homeowners decided it was time to renovate their sterile white kitchen and bring some of the warm Tuscan feel they love so much into their home.
They wanted to separate their kitchen and fireplace area so they would get a private reading area and more kitchen counter space. As avid cooks and wine collectors they also requested storage for their wine and extra storage for the kitchen.
Our solution was to create a "G" shape kitchen with a sitting area on the peninsula, an adjacent hutch area with 2 tall pantry cabinets and an angled wine room next to the fireplace area, all within the same room.
To achieve the warm rustic Italian look that the clients wanted, we selected dark cherry cabinetry, tumbled travertine for the floors and backsplash and backsplash accents with grape motifs.
The wine room has a beautiful wood door with wrought iron and glass insert and the fireplace got a modern touch with a ledger slate surround.
Another client request was to make their newly landscaped backyard part of the new room. We accomplished that by adding a French door with side light adjacent to their wine room.
The room feels open and inviting and the warm Tuscan feel that they wanted is everywhere. When asked if they would change anything on their renovation, the clients' response was: "Not a single thing." Mission accomplished!
