San Francisco Shingle Style

This 1909 house was showing signs of its age. We worked closely with the owners to transform the shingled box into a real Shingle Style home. A three-story addition houses the enlarged garage and living room, and the new bedroom and study. The formerly dark basement now contains the family room and guest bedroom opening to the garden. A rebuilt main stair spirals from the lowest floor to the third story, with a cathedral ceiling skylight above. Bracketed roof overhangs and varied shingle patterns add richness to the exterior.
