Black and White Kitchen

This home was built at the turn of the century. When it came time to remodel the kitchen, the homeowners wanted to preserve the antique charm and character of the home from that time period. Interior designer Alex Yavarow worked with the clients to make optimal use of the small space and to also incorporate some traditional, antique-inspired features to make the beautifully remodeled kitchen fit seamlessly in to the home. A simple, elegant black and white color scheme, painted cabinets, soapstone countertops, cup pulls on the drawers, a unique light fixture, ornate faucet, and a farmer's sink all pull the look together to create a cozy and efficient space. Keeping the original wood beams and painting them black added one more layer of visual interest in this transitional yet classic and comfortable kitchen.
