Eco-Conscious Makeover - "After" & "Before"

Conversion of cluttered, outdated, traditional downstairs of a San Fernando Valley home to a contemporary, comfortable, warm & inviting space for family & friends alike. Emphasis was placed on the use of eco-conscious materials. The result was a close collaboration between designer (me) & my delightful clients, & coordination with the general contractor & subs. Some wall art, a new staircase, & updating of the second floor is another project at a future date.

This house lacks a foyer or entry area of any kind. A short pony wall just broke up the room flow so was removed, & replaced with this 6' bamboo room divider which serves to create the illusion of an entry without closing off the space. The peek-a-boo divider retains an open feeling & gives this long, someone narrow room a sense of greater width. Photography credit: Marty Elca...More
