Waterfront Art Deco Apartment

This gorgeous Art Deco Apartment was in need of updating without detracting from the original charm and character of the space. Views to the Brisbane River were not being taken to their full advantage and so the team went to work, giving this apartment a fresh and sophisticated look. Our client was inspired by the moody style of Manhattan's art Deco Buildings and Interiors, yet with her busy lifestyle and lack of time needed assistance to help bring it all together. The Charcoal Interiors Design team introduced new tones for the walls with a full paint job, shuttering for the front sunroom, original Artworks by Dean Reily and Emma Sheldrake, warmth and character with a mix of eclectic Antique pieces such as the altar table, old wooden horse from a Parisian market, turkish ottoman and yoghurt jar. And balancing off with sophisticated lighting, upholstered leather tub chair and stunning French marble topped console. There's a lot to this new look and you can find more photos and descriptions via the Charcoal Interiors website.

We have on more than one occasion used original artworks by Emma Sheldrake in our projects. we felt that this piece entitled Silver Sequins worked perfectly in the space bringing with it a softness and womanly ambience. Photo by Mark Turner Photography

A terrific example of how a large oversized statement piece can work in a smaller space. We call him Charlie, and he makes an imposing figure within this waterfront art deco apartment on the Brisbane River. Shown here with Charcoal Interiors designer and director, Cathie Venardos.
