Decorating With LavenderHere is that grayish-lavender upholstery I was talking about. It's modern, but it's also timeless. And it looks so great with golds and creamy white.
Using lavender and rich purples at home. In the home, richer purples have a bold yet elegant feel, reminiscent of royalty.
In a larger room, one piece of furniture in purple is probably all you need. Purple as a paint color can be quite dramatic — try it on an accent wall, line the back of a cupboard or bookcase, or paint the interior of a closet or laundry nook in the hue.

Shear lavender after bloom to encourage a bushy habit. Lavender can be a short-lived shrub in the garden, because it has a tendency to become woody on the inside and break. Because lavender doesn't come back from hard regenerative pruning, the best way to keep your lavender plants looking full
to the fluffy mound of foliage beneath. Again, don't prune more than ½ to 1 inch of foliage off, as the lavender won't come back from shearing to bare wood.

Grass lavender patch ... Not the whole yard
Lavender is a plant you don't want to cheat on space; when clustered too tightly, it will grow leggy and reach for the sun. It is a slow-growing perennial as well, so be patient and give those small bushes space.

Formal Garden with Purple - Beautiful!
I want a field of lavender
Add Purple to Both Formal and Informal GardensBorrow an idea from the fashion world and create a color-block pattern in purple to enliven an otherwise traditional, and somewhat staid, formal garden. Boxed in by evergreens, the purple blooms almost look as if they were painted in between the lines.
2. Go Formal or CasualAssociated with both royalty and serenity, purple is at home in any style of garden. Planted en masse, spiked purple flowers like salvia or Veronica make an elegant choice for a formal bed.
