The reason being is that if there is a flaw in the stone and a failure were to occur, it will happen along those striations lines. If they are horizontal

What is the color of the stone on the fireplace? Gorgeous!
thanks again for using our Hudson Ledgestone in the design. It looks incredible on that fireplace! Jimsnurse, I don't think Menards carries any real stone veneers and with the exception of just a few select Lowe's stores on the East Coast, I don't think our products are available in home-improvement retail

Cathy - I see in your answer to a previous question that you all had similar problems to what we're having and had success with a StoneTech product. Do you know which StoneTech product was used? Thank you!
in particular oil stains. The stone requires special care in sealing as it has a certain cleft - in other words it is not completely smooth. I am not really sure why the first sealing product did not work - but it did not. ASN recommended I contact a technical rep at StoneTech. I did this - but ultimately
free. I believe he will also provide a maintenance service - as the flooring, like most natural stone, will require regular resealing. I hope this is of help. interestingly we never sealed the exterior stone - and maybe because it is not a surface one cooks around - it has never stained. Best regards,
