natural stone that is about the same hardness of granite
This stone is the standard 3cm thick, which is about 1-1/4". This stone has what we call an eased edge. It is your standard square edge profile, which is great if you want a clean and contemporary look. Thanks for your interest!

This is a Quartzite stone called 'Woodbridge' from a company called Walker Zanger. It is extremely durable and does not have any issues similar to other stone, like slate or travertine. It does not need to be sealed either. This pattern is their 'Ashlar'

Please provide the name of the stone used in the island
polished stone. It is not as durable as manufactured quartz at all. You would need to treat this like you would any natural stone, clean up spills as soon as you can and be careful with acidic products, those will eat through the finish on any stone but may show more on a white one.
with "quartzite." Quartz is man-made (Caeserstone, Silestone, etc.) and quartzite is natural. The picture above is referred to as "real quartz", but it's quartzite. Caeserstone, etc. is advertised as 94% quartz, but that's by weight, not volume. Despite what many say about quartz being bulletproof
natural stones are susceptible to acids. I've had granite countertops that truly were bulletproof and even after several years, did not need to be resealed. IF there is calcite in the stone, that is what reacts to acids.. and not all natural stone contains calcite. Or, it's a reaction between acid

it is quartzite, thanks for your comments!
This is actually "quartzite"--a natural stone that is harder than granite. It's sandstone that hardened over time through tectonic pressure. Depending on the part of the country you're in, it goes by different names: "Aspen White, Luce di Luna, Quartzite
Thanks for your question. The homeowner selected this granite, so I don't have the name, sorry! There are many quartz-like granites available, so check your local stone supplier, and take a picture of this kitchen with you! Best, Leslie

granite/marble/stone can have myriad patterns that you do NOT see when you look at a few samples of a few friend's kitchen counters. Beth MUST go to a HUGE stone warehouse to see the world of stone out there. Beth will be very surprised and impressed once she sees the unlimited world of stone.
e the stone floor! Is that Rocky Mountain Quartzite? It looks like the stone we produce.
Do you know where the stone from the walls is manufactured/quarried?
