A house located at a southern Vermont ski area, this home is based on our Lodge model. This 1970 Split-Level Ranch home underwent a whole-house remodel in 2006. A Home Performance Audit was done to identify areas of focus to bring the home up to maximum energy efficiency and comfort. A 'Systems Approach' to the design and construction updated the homes HVAC, electrical, & plumbing systems, and focus was on healthy indoor air quality by using materials that do not off-gas toxins. Every choice, from de-construction to use of reclaimed, renewable, and sustainable materials, was made with the Principles of Sustainable Design and Building Green in mind. The result is a lovely home, expressive of the clients' spirit, designed and built to last their lifetime and beyond.

How do you make a split entry not look like a split entry? Several challenges presented themselves when designing the new entry/portico. The homeowners wanted to keep the large transom window above the front door and the need to address “where is” the front entry and of course, curb appeal. With the addition of the new portico, custom built cedar beams and brackets along with new custom made cedar entry and garage doors added warmth and style. Final touches of natural stone, a paver stoop and walkway, along professionally designed landscaping. This home went from ordinary to extraordinary! Architecture was done by KBA Architects in Minneapolis.

For this kitchen renovation, the homeowners wanted to keep their oak cabinets but wanted to freshen up and modernize their space. I changed the cabinet hardware, took down some 80s wallpaper, got new appliances and beautiful new granite countertops. I also had a custom backsplash made by Mercury Mosaics. The old dinette set was dated so I had a custom table and chairs made. Small changes helped bring a dated kitchen into the present.

This side entrance is full of special character and elements with Old Chicago Brick floors and arch which also leads to the garage and back brick patio! This is the perfect setting for the beach to endure the sand coming in on those bare feet! Fletcher Isaacs Photographer
