They are reclaimed doug fir purchased at a local salvage yard
They are certainly doable. 6x6 or 8x8 may be the size you want. Also consider box beams instead of actual reclaimed solid oak or heartpine beams due to weight.
Those beams are awesome. You can find them in a lumberyard, at vendors who specialize in reclaimed products or achitectural salvage OR you can even buy faux beams that look very real and are as light as a feather!

I have or can easily acquire most any size and amount of antique beams and other related materials that exists. I reside in Alabama, but all of my materials are sourced from Missouri to Philadelphia, Pa. and southward. Your beams would ship directly from NE Ohio, via a close Amish friend and colleague

The beams are likely decorative since it looks like they terminate into the bulkhead housing the HVAC duct. While exposed beams can be structural, many homes utilize non-structural exposed ceiling beams to add unique
unique character to a space. The advantage to non-structural exposed beams is that you are not limited in the size of the beams you are using, whereas with structural beams they will need to engineered to meet certain load and deflection criteria to support the floor joists (or rafters) above.
