reclaimed barn wood siding for exterior
this; like columns, l-shaped building, front porch and homey feel, wood siding
This large retreat between Monterey and San Francisco uses recycled wood siding to create a striking reinterpretation of traditional buildings while still embracing the surrounding landscape. The latter is particularly evident
Much of the project's vernacular appearance stems from the barn wood and the corrugated Corten steel roofing. Appropriately, the architects opted for forms that work well with these materials. This view of the living building shows that exterior wall openings follow the interior spaces; instead of punched

Is the wood siding treated with anything? What upkeep is required?
Can you give me the source of this barn wood?

getting behind the siding? Is it tongue and grooved together or just applied flat to the housewrap?
is this tongue and groove siding? thanks
This siding was butt jointed, it is not tongue and groove
The siding acts more like a rainscreen than the waterproof barrier. The boards are butted
The wood is not treated. Over time it will deteriorate, but because this is already weathered barn wood, the aesthetic look won't change. Boards will need to be replaced at some point in the future.
This was sourced through Montana Reclaimed Lumber, but maintaining a consistent look was partly the result of the contractor going to the yard to confirm the look of all of the material in

Where is the reclaimed wood from?
was re-claimed from a barn a Mennonite family was dismantling in Southern Ontario, Canada. We then re-planed the 3 unexposed sides for the horizontal siding and re-planed all of the sides for the vertical siding. The whole process was facilitated by The Wood Source here in Ottawa. http://www.wood-source

Vanity - so perfect! Can you tell me about wood, where it was made?
Hi laujane: The vanity was made custom by a cabinet maker. The cabinet has a Maple plywood interior body and is clad with the same reclaimed wood that is used on the opposite wall (salvaged from the selective demolition of the walls of the house). The outside corner edge drawers (far right) are mitered
