Restored Eating Club
the early 1900's. Our Princeton archtiects designed this front porch addition to restore the home to its original grandeur while also adding a second floor master bath and separate entrance hall.
I know you don't know the color, but is the door a coralish red as it appears in the photo? Love it!
We are looking to build something similar. The front porch is 35' across. Would it look ok to have 5 windows on the 2nd floor, 4 windows of the 1st and 6 columns on the porch (14") or would this look to busy? Thanks in advance for any advice.
something similar. If our porch was 35' in length, would it be ok to have 5 windows on 2nd floor, 4 windows on 1st floor, along with 6 columns?
Yes! Coralish red is an accurate description.

Residential Red Oak Strip Floor Update
Residential Red Oak Strip Floor Update
In this project, stairs were relocated, and the traditional red oak floors were stained with a dark gel stain to minimize the oak grain and create a great updated look. Very cost effective, and beautiful too!
what stain is on these red oak floors?
Do the gel stains last as long standard floor stains. What are pros/cons?
like the dark floors --- this says dark gel stain to minimize the graining??? do we like that??? yes maybe

dark gel stain on red oak floor
The floors are stained with a gel stain, rather than our standard floor stains. Gel stains give a richer deeper color than normal stains. These stains are more pigment dense than typical stains and so they cover more completely. The color in this case is a dark brown.

The color is Bordeaux Red from Benjamin Moore.
My Dining room looks like that and it is Ben Moore Cranberry Cocktail.....depends on the lighting - raisin torte is darker..... Love the red curtains against it!
It is a fabric that is to the trade only unfortunately but you should find some great reds at retail sites like Pottery Barn this time of year.

like the house style with the reds
Use crimson flowers to bring vibrant energy to an otherwise neutral landscape. Because a little red can go a long way, this hot color is ideal in dry climates, where plants are scarcer.
