Extended raised hearth for bench seating
Raised hearth to add more seating
Hearth that extends length of the wall. Also, no stone all the way up and no mantle.
Raised hearth. Provides built in seating, place to set stuff, and looks really cool!
raised hearth provided much needed sitting space without knocking out a wall.
raised hearth. In small homes having plenty of seating for guests is a constant battle. One suggestion is to add a raised hearth around the fireplace. Add a few cushions on top and voilà! You’ve got a few of the coziest seats in the house.

material the hearth is made from? Thanks.
they are redwood though! Good Luck!
like the hearth, maybe do something like this in master bedroom with elevated fireplace?
elevated hearth and stunning quatrefoil mirror. What I love most about this design is how the media center and fireplace, both prominent design elements, coexist harmoniously on the same elevation.

Questions12
Were the ceilings redwood by any chance? We have been torn about painting ours, but these look great!
I'd love to do a fireplace like this. Is plaster a hardy material for the hearth?
were not redwood. But painted redwood would certainly work.
on the hearth. We had a sheet metal rep come look at making a heat deflector to deflect the heat. I looked at heat deflectors online but they seemed to protrude out from opening too much. Afraid of someone touching it. I'm attaching a photo of where we are at this point. Would appreciate any suggestions

surround and hearth. (Check your local codes for details.) A steel facing certainly fits that requirement. A custom application that feels rustic and modern, steel is a great look. Cost: From $5,000 to $8,000 for raw materials, custom fabrication and installation.
