Were the ceilings redwood by any chance? We have been torn about painting ours, but these look great!
I'd love to do a fireplace like this. Is plaster a hardy material for the hearth?
were not redwood. But painted redwood would certainly work.
stucco can be any color. you can tint the stucco or paint it after installation. ALSO, the shallow hearth on this example could be a good compromise between 'large-and intrusive hearth" VS "no raised hearth at all"

We have redwood trim around family room windows and large wooded slats going up angles ceiling to loft. Gray stone block fireplace. Any ideas for wall color? This room faces the woods.
floor and hearth are both made of flagstone.The view into the garden reveals an exquisite plant collection. Aspen trees sport soft greenish-yellow leaves and beautifully textured light bark, a blue spruce adds blue-green needles, and Japanese maples add intricately shaped plum leaves. The wide range of color
