When you first start a fire in a large opening fireplace, after you start the wood on fire, it helps to start some rolled up paper on fire and hold it up near the flue so the hot air will start rising and pull up the smoke up with it. You only have to do this

noticed all of these amazing rolls of hay dotting the hills. Up to this point, I'd only seen rectangular bales of hay, and I was entranced. Something about the placement of these spheres in the landscape reminds me of the feeling I had the first time I saw those hay rolls.
