defines the landscape. But the exuberance of color is offset by a grassy strolling path that leads to a small but effective focal point.Notice the shrub at the end of the path, centered between two huge shade trees. This detail creates a natural end point of the perennial garden and can be appreciated from

at many salvias, but none resembled the spires in the picture. Are they Heucheras? Continue to be in awe of this exquisite design. Thanks :)
spires are Salvia nemerosa 'Pink Friesland'. Thanks for asking.
This landscape features two favorite coast-loving grasses. The smaller grass in the foreground is blue oat grass, Helictotrichon sempervirens, which is an evergreen sun-loving grass that demands good drainage but is otherwise unfussy. The only maintenance blue oat grass needs is to have its foliage
in the landscape. The purple flower plumes in fall are a wonderful accent when seen against a coastal sunset. Unfortunately, maiden grass isn't evergreen and must be cut back to 6 inches tall in late winter or early spring.More:5 Hot Cool-Season Grasses5 Smokin' Warm-Season Grasses
