This oak floor was sanded and finished onsite, so the direction the boards run in looks good. However, some prefinished floors look better if the boards run with the light.

3/4" x 5 1/4" Black walnut floor that is installed over plywood subbase with a moisture barrier between concrete slab and plywood. The wood is then sanded and finished on site after installation. I would think local lumber suppliers would have this or could get it for you. Hope this helps and good luck

satin finish, the woodworking is in BM color calm semi gloss. the two finishes and hues juxtaposed and given the 'natural' light from ocean and sky and sand, renders it dreamy and cool. This home is for summer time use only so i was not concerned so much as the feeling it gives off in 'winter' light.

ceiling design david has suggested for master bdrm...not sure how i feel about the wood here, but could be ok (unlike existing ceiling) if it were sanded smooth and sealed.
