bands of slate To vary the different paved surfaces of this Sydney garden, the designer has set bands of slate pavers into pebbles. This a great idea for a subsidiary path that is not used as a main circulation route. The colours of the pebbles were selected to complement those of the slate.

It looks gorgeous. How to prep for big tile slate and gravel path? Thx!
concrete base. Then, we floated about 2" of concrete in the shapes you see in the picture and mortared the slate pavers in place. We then had about a 3" depth area to fill with pebble around the pavers.

These are bluestone pavers (natural stone, not concrete). They are widely available from stone yards and could be provided by landscape contractors.
