see a small Rose bush with pale, possibly cream colored flowers. Next to that are tall pink perennials with fern like leaves called Cosmos. Though difficult to clearly see the bright orange flowers may be lilies, possibly tiger lilies. Hope this helps a bit. It's a very pretty flower garden though needs
fashioned garden with perennials, annuals, cutting flowers & herbs.
The cottage-potage garden. I imagine the historic predecessor of what I call the cottage-potage garden might have looked a bit like this garden, with edibles such as kale (in the foreground), herbs and squash (adjacent to the house) planted here and there alongside scented flowers and ornamentals
A traditional cottage garden blends vegetables and flowers in a riotous mix of colors and textures. They stand in sharp contrast to the simple lines and white siding of the house behind them.

Hi. Would you happen to have a layout of the garden and types of plants? It is beautiful. Much gratitude. Anika
random, but gardens like this need more attention than the "orderly" ones. As someone who has tried (mostly unsuccessfully) to create such ordered chaos, I assure you there is nothing random about the plant placement here.

classic cottage garden look does require some weeding, but it is well worth the effort for its cheering effect. Just be sure to choose flowers that bloom at different times of year, so your garden will never be completely bare.

love this cottage guest room. Were there any setback issues with the property line? Maybe it was small enough to categorize as a shed? I'd love to know because this would be great for us too and we live close to SF in Marin County. Thanks!
The cottage was existing - it had been rebuilt a few years ago by the previous owner because there was already an existing structure there. SF Planning Dept would not allow a new structure to be built here now, but it was existing.
This is a small backyard space. I like the design.
backyard cottage. Even homes with a yard smaller than this one often have room for special touches. This yard has many inspiring small-space ideas — readers particularly liked the raised garden beds.

What is better for a vegetable garden, full sun or partial?
particular garden would be too low for wheelchair access, but it would be very easy to make adjustments to accommodate.
It really depends on what you are growing. This is a zone 5b garden. The front half of the garden gets about 8 hours of full sun. The back half gets about 5 hours of full sun.

The small tree to the left of the rose garden is a Dwarf Korean Lilac on standard. There are actually four of them framing the space. The low hedges are Green Velvet Boxwoods and the taller sheared hedge in the mid-ground is Hicks Yew.

of the garden room. The movement introduced the creation of separate garden rooms, giving each part of the garden a different feel. The great British gardens of this era — at Hidcote Manor, Sissinghurst and Great Dixter — all have partitioned areas of the larger garden that have different planting schemes
