Is stacked bond more expensive than running bond and if so, why? Also can you give me an idea on how much more expensive based on a percentage as compared to running bond? Thank you
That is what I thought, but a contractor is telling me it will cost more for stacked bond. It doesn't make sense to me, as it uses the same material, and it can't be that much more difficult to build a stacked bond vs running bond. You bring up a different question, though. The stacked bond installation is a trend that can work well in any space using any material. Depending on the goals you have for your space, choose the materials and scale of your tile wisely to either create an incredibly contemporary feel, or more subtly update a space with a clean and organized look
I'm wild about this take on subway tile. Choosing blue instead of white and stacking it in a grid instead of staggering it make for a modern, unexpected approach.

As you can see from this angle, the grid pattern is very prominent, leaving little room for error. The stacked bond installation method is much less forgiving than the more traditional running bond installation. However, the end result is stunning and well worth the extra effort.
