Cape Cod
A whale weather vane crowns the exterior, whose bracketed bays, oval windows and stacked-stone chimneys pay homage to architecture of the past. The covered porch is a nice retro touch, perfect for savoring sea breezes — no matter which ocean you face. More: Houzz Tour: One Beach Cottage, Hold the Cute

en space with an open timber ceiling structure and a 2-story “bedroom tower,” with the kids’ bedroom on the ground floor and the parents’ bedroom stacked above. The interior spaces are wood paneled, with exposed framing in the ceiling. The cabinets use PLYBOO, a FSC-certified bamboo product, with mahogany

I love how it looks without a chimney cap; how did you achieve this?
I'm curious what the detail looks like at the top of the chimney. I was under the impression that most jurisdictions require some sort of chimney cap, but I really like the detail on this project without
Hi, Thanks for your question about our Eagle Harbor Cabin project. The chimney does not have a cap, and it does not seem to be a problem. We find that chimney caps are required in some areas and not required in other areas. A recently completed house just north of Boston

Who makes the stone and color please.
The stone is a native CT fieldstone. The masons custom cut some of the stones to accommodate the look that the client desired.

What kind of stone was used on this project?
We prefer to use real stone but on this house, for budget reasons, it's faux stone. We spent a bit of time researching products and combinations to achieve a look you see. It's a mixture of Eldorado Stone's "Cliffstone" and "Roughcut" products with a bit of artsy

This is my new favorite! This seems a very "do-able" adaptation to a mid-century ranch. Nice use of horizontal stone focals as well as privacy
Makes sense to do asphalt, but want to have the gate up and outdoor forye with stones and pavers.
"It's always easier to stain it later than to stain it first and undo it later." The natural patina of the cedar works well with the colors of the stone on the exterior.
it as an ideal model for the American middle class.Notice the long and low facade, or elevation, of this 1956 Usonian-inspired house. A mixture of stone and wood feels informal and inviting, and the house stretches from one side to the other freely. However, the flat roof did not translate to the ranch
