the acceptance of the stain by the wood (get rid of blotchy patches). Then a two stage staining process was used. Then a polyurethane top coat. What I might recommend it to buy a piece of vertical grain fir, use a wood conditioner such as Benite, and try several colors of stain. Another route is to take
custom match the stain for about $30-50 or so. This will create a continuity from other existing pieces in the house and the new colonnade. If you would like the colors we used, I could find them for you, however the process is rather pain staking and requires some experience with staining.

A sun emerges from the tiles surrounding the open shower, harking back to the name of the house.Ceiling paint: Sapphire

Hi, Wendi: these lower cabinets are Mahogany, stained to match some existing cabinets. So, the stain color was probably a custom finish. Here is another view of the Mahogany with stain.

Did you use a stain? Or pickling? Or whitewash? It makes the kitchen feel warm and cozy. Thank you.
What type of wood and stain are the wall boards?
It's wide-plank (5 inches wide) pine. It is a custom stain - one of the challenges here was to match new elements to existing. The kitchen was expanded and the floor was replaced (it was vinyl before). Pine was chosen for the floor because original wide-plank pine was still present upstairs
