love the colonnade - we also need to rebuild as previous owners have removed the original from our living room. i'm wondering what type of wood was used and what brand/color of stain. thank you!
of the stain by the wood (get rid of blotchy patches). Then a two stage staining process was used. Then a polyurethane top coat. What I might recommend it to buy a piece of vertical grain fir, use a wood conditioner such as Benite, and try several colors of stain. Another route is to take a piece of existing
match the stain for about $30-50 or so. This will create a continuity from other existing pieces in the house and the new colonnade. If you would like the colors we used, I could find them for you, however the process is rather pain staking and requires some experience with staining.
